Ward 1 Sneakers

This AJ1 Low OG comes through with some serious Zion energy. Raw edges, exposed stitching and the combination of suede and canvas in the upper gives the shoe a handcrafted feel. Embroidered details—like the inverted Nike Swoosh and voodoo doll—keep the look unique. Throw in the upside down logos and braided rope laces, and, boom, you’re looking at a pair of kicks that channel Zion’s roots in a way only Jordan brand can.

The smoothness is unmatched. The summer after his rookie year, MJ went full MJ at an exhibition game in Italy when he threw down a dunk so powerful that the backboard shattered. Everyone stopped and stared—but he just walked off like it was nothing. Inspired by the jersey he was wearing, the bold colorway and soft touch tumbled leather of the AJ1 “Shattered Backboard” embodies that effortless energy any day of the week

Air Jordan 4 – Rare Air

August 5, 2025 | Category: Ward 1 Sneakers

The AJ4 “Rare Air” pays homage to unexpected beginnings. When the AJ1 first released, it sparked worldwide acclaim—but not before one too many incorrect samples landed at retail partners around the globe, revealing the imperfect hodgepodge placements of logos, stitches and more. A fresh interpretation of the AJ4 “Rare Air” series is here.

The premium mix of leather and suede combine with signature Jumpman DNA colors to honor Jordan heritage. Nike Air heel branding, stamped “Rare Air” insoles and removable tongue patches create a rare edition that reminds us how to turn flaws into awes.

Air Jordan 5 OG – Grape

June 26, 2025 | Category: Ward 1 Sneakers

The AJ5 launched in 1990, and the “Grape” colorway broke the mold on more conventional Jordan colors—white, red and black. The “Grape” combines smooth white leather with Grape Ice and New Emerald accents—originally giving a nod to the nascent NBA team from MJ’s home state of North Carolina. Earning instant acclaim in ’90s pop culture, the timeless icon quickly cemented its status as a cultural phenomenon.

Renowned for its fierce stance, bump-out collar and jagged midsole, this version brings it closer to the original with a streamlined collar and slightly more slanted toe shape. Plus, Nike Air branding graces the heel for the first time on the “Grape” colorway—since its 1990 debut. Translucent netting on the tongue and quarter panels pair with a matching translucent outsole and clear lace locks for an icy finish. Special packaging resembles the original box, resurrecting high-flying hoops nostalgia—and MJ’s must-have sneakers that coincided with the unforgettable era.

Air Jordan 3 – Seoul

May 26, 2025 | Category: Ward 1 Sneakers

As Korea was gearing up to host the world’s biggest stage in 1988, Nike was cooking up a little something too. The Air Jordan 3. Carefully designed according to Michael Jordan’s exact specifications, this sneaker was the embodiment of dreams taking flight.

In 2018, the dream took flight in a slightly new form. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, the AJ3 Retro “Seoul” was the first Korea-specific Jordan shoe. Good news—it’s back again.

Renewed and reimagined, the 2025 version builds on the original with design details, colors and materials inspired by Korean culture. The soft leather upper and hairy suede elephant print pairs with a slightly yellowed midsole to create an aged-to-perfection aesthetic. An embroidered South Korean flag is featured on the tongue, and the white upper draws in Sport Royal, Challenge Red and black accents to represent the colors of the Taegeukgi. A new feature is the text on the inner tongue: ? (GGUEM) and ? (JEONG). “Gguem” means dream in Korean. It represents aspirations, hopes and the pursuit of something greater. More than just what you see when you sleep, “Gguem” symbolizes the visions and goals that drive you forward. “Jeong” is a uniquely Korean concept. It describes a deep emotional connection, a sense of affection and attachment, and the bond between people, places or even objects. “Jeong” goes beyond friendship or love—it’s a lasting warmth that builds over time.

You know the colors. You know the history. From his high-flying artistry to his dramatic game-winning shots, MJ’s college years catapulted him to early stardom. Everything that followed was a continuation of his legacy. This reimagined AJ1 High nods back to his North Carolina roots.
The vintage treatment adds to the nostalgia—as if you’ve been saving this pair since 1985. Dark Powder Blue and Sail color blocking combines with distressed leather to create a classic, worn-in finish. Nike Air tongue branding and the signature Wings logo on the collar keep it true to the original. Special packaging and two sets of laces tie it back to MJ’s alma mater and the origins of “His Airness.”

Nike SB x Air Jordan 4

April 21, 2025 | Category: Ward 1 Sneakers

Kickflips and tailslides. Dimes and dunks. Nike SB and Jordan. Some things just go better together. The Nike SB x AJ4 honors one of the greatest duos to play the sneaker game: Sandy Bodecker (it isn’t called Nike SB for nothing) and the legendary designer Tinker Hatfield. They created a buzzer-beating icon that not only propelled MJ along on his journey, but transcended basketball—altering pop and street culture forever.

Nike SB and Jordan join forces again to tweak the AJ4 design, so you can skate all day and land big tricks. It features the original ’89 shape around the toe box for an improved fit and a deconstructed upper with flexible plastic detailing. Nike Air in the heel lets you handle epic stair counts, and because grip matters, gum rubber on the outsole adds traction where you need it most.

They look good, too. Heritage color blocking nods to classic AJ4 style while Navy accents add the flavour du jour. Step on it—the wild ride continues.

BMX virtuoso Nigel Sylvester and Jordan Brand team up on this charged edition of the AJ4. In the worlds of sport, culture and philanthropy, the “Brick by Brick” colorway is a testament to Nigel’s belief in tenacity and progress. His commitment to push boundaries, make the tricks bigger and the world better inspired the fierce Firewood Orange leather upper. The Cinnabar underlays and accents pulse against the vibrant upper and a clean Sail midsole brings balance to the bold design. Staying true to the original AJ4 from ’89, it comes equipped with mesh-inspired details and floating eyestays. As a nod to Nigel’s passion, the traditional “Nike Air” heel logo is replaced with “Bike Air.” Lace up, build community and forge your own path.

Air Jordan 1 ’85 – Bred

April 7, 2025 | Category: Ward 1 Sneakers

The 2025 version of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High ’85 OG ‘Bred / Banned’ tries for a true OG look, keeping the high collar and wider toe box. The leather upper blends black and red panels on the toe, heel, collar and the Swoosh. The Wings logo adorns the collar, while a woven Nike Air tag graces the tongue. A traditional rubber cupsole with white sidewalls contrast the red outsole to wrap up the look.

The choice of the “Bred” colorway is particularly significant. Not just for its historical importance as Michael Jordan’s on-court sneaker that famously flouted the NBA’s uniform regulations, but also for its enduring appeal in the sneaker community. This version’s expected leather construction and authentic detailing will likely draw a strong response from long-time fans and new collectors.

The Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Bred” is set to release on February 14th during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend festivities; the pair has a special connection to the weekend, as it was this very shoe that Michael Jordan wore during the 1985 NBA Dunk Contest.

Born out of the desire to have a place to showcase what the local community of kids were up to with music, art and fashion, as well as being a bridge to unique items from various parts of the world, Union first opened its doors in NYC back in 1989 on Spring Street in Soho. In short, it was the store that represented the fashion side of New York City’s youth and counter culture.

The Los Angeles shop followed soon after when Eddie Cruz (one of three original owners) decided to move west. Maintaining the same principles as the New York shop, Union LA embraced the creativity of fresh designers within the city and continued the hunt for cool shit coming out of countries like Japan and the UK.

Over 20 years later, Union continues to bring its customers a curated selection of up and coming designers mixed with off-the-beaten-path high-end brands from all over the globe. Union’s concept is simple (and we have stuck with it since day one): buy brands that we will wear ourselves and clothes that walk the line between fashion and function, avoiding the ‘costumey’ side of fashion by offering classics with a twist. The LA shop is now the only remaining door and is currently owned and operated by Chris Gibbs, who worked at the original NYC shop as a young’un.

The lore of MJ’s lucky shorts continues with this AJ3. Full-grain leather in Summit White mixes with Photon Dust suede overlays and Legend and Hydrogen Blue accents to pay homage to the shorts beneath the shorts. We’ve always thought it was the shoes, but maybe it was the shorts all along?
