Next-Gen Overload

Playstation 5 vs XBOX Series X

The PS5 is a superb console that offers a compelling next-gen gaming experience – and one that will likely only get better as more titles are added to the lineup. The PS5 proves itself to be both powerful and well-designed, though it might be too big for some setups. A couple of issues hold it back from being a five-star product at launch, but otherwise it’s a welcome upgrade over the PS4 and an exciting portal to next-gen gameplay.

The Xbox Series X utilizes its powerful specs to significantly reduce load times and boost overall game performance and visual fidelity. But while features such as Quick Resume, Smart Delivery and backwards compatibility give it that extra edge, it’s hard to deny that it’s lacking in key areas, notably significant UI improvements and captivating exclusive launch titles.

Lego Creator – Ghostbusters ECTO-1
Based on a converted 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearse, the original ECTO-1 from the classic 1984 movie made our list of Coolest Movie Cars of All Time, where we called it a “classic for an entire generation.” Even though this new Lego set is based on the version in the upcoming movie, I’m not at all surprised that the new Lego set feeds adult nostalgia while also being current with the upcoming movie.
One of the main benefits of Lego is the fact that you can use the pieces to build the ECTO-1 you want, but the new ECTO-1 set includes features including a Remote Trap Vehicle that firmly connect it to the upcoming movie. There are also plenty of moving features such as doors and a roof-mounted T. U. Antenna that rotates when the rear wheels move. Lego fan sites are mostly enjoying the new set, saying it is a “superb rendition of the ECTO-1” and that it “looks spot-on from all sides.”

The Lego Creator – Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is the third official ECTO-1 set Lego has made, and it’s much larger and more complicated than the previous versions. The first ECTO-1, from 2014, had 508 pieces, while a 2016 edition had 556 pieces. This new version, which looks like (but isn’t, technically) part of Lego’s adult-focused Ultimate Collector Series, contains 2352 pieces.

Air Jordan AJKO Collection

Air Jordan AJKO

The Air Jordan I ditched leather for canvas in 1986. Named the Air Jordan KO, they feature ‘AJKO’ on the wings logos instead of ‘Air Jordan’. The reasoning as to why this change was made or, the naming of the shoe the Air Jordan K.O. is still unknown to this day. While the original Air Jordan I is highly coveted, sought after and hard-to-find, the AJKO is all that, and then some. While we know that at least four colorways were originally released in ’86, every now and then we stumble upon another pair we practically know nothing about.

If you do enough research, you can find about ten original colorways of the Air Jordan I KO. But, at the end of the day, many are samples that never actually released to the public. Another difference between the AJI and the AJKO is the outsole. For the ‘Silver Anniversary’ of the Air Jordan in 2010, Jordan Brand retroed the KO’s for the first time. Two colorways of the Air Jordan 1 Retro KO High dropped, both original. They featured a ‘vintage’ look to them with yellowed midsoles, ‘powdered outsoles and some yellowing on the uppers as well. The original style outsole was also replaced with the regular AJI version.

One year later, in 2011, the Air Jordan 1 Retro KO High would return. This time around, they featured an entirely different look, with premium leather uppers instead of the traditional canvas. Three colorways dropped and to date, are the only AJKO’s to release with a canvas upper. In 2012 they made another appearance. Three colorways released during this short run, which included the original black/red and ‘Black Toes’ as well as a new Barcelona-inspired pair, which was a part of the ‘Road to the Gold’ Collection.

In 2013, Jordan Brand debuted the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. A version featuring original ‘Nike’ branding, just like the versions released in 1985. One year later, the Air Jordan 1 Retro KO High got the ‘OG’ treatment, complete with its original outsole and packaged in an orange Nike box. The original white, red and black colorway returned for its second time, sans the ‘vintage’ look. The original black/royal AJI was converted to an AJKO for the first time and ditched the royal shade for a new sport blue scheme.
