Luke Bryan proved that he’s worthy of his country superstar status during his Saturday night show at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park IL, for Bryan’s Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day Tour. Bryan came out and sang hit after hit during his sold-out concert, with fans hanging onto every note.

After opening sets by Granger Smith and Brett Eldredge, Bryan emerged from behind a transparent stage-to-ceiling screen, perched on a riser located behind his band. Bryan kicked off his set by performing his recent No. 1 hit, “Move,” followed by “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Kick the Dust Up.”

Bryan continued powering through his hits, including “Crash My Party,” “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” and “I See You.” As he performed his recent No. 1 song “Fast,” images of Bryan’s family — including pictures of the singer with his children and wedding photos featuring his wife Caroline — flashed on the screens; Bryan started and ended the song alone, just him and his guitar.

Bruno Mars 24k Magic Tour 2017

Bruno Mars brought his 24K Magic World Tour to United Center in Chicago on August 18th for the 2nd of three sold-out arena concerts. The consummate performer never ceases to blow audiences away with his live performance offerings—be it at the Super Bowl half-time show or during awards ceremonies—and his concerts are no exception as he engages his audiences in a full-on dance party.

Bruno Mars and the Hooligans, stepping out in technicolor style with color coordinated baseball jerseys and matching trackpants, were welcomed on stage to deafening applause and cheers which never relented. A crew of vocal beasts, incredible instrumentalists and dance machines, the Hooligan crew overdelivered in providing the entertainer factor throughout the entire evening.

To promote and showcase 24K Magic, the retro-soul throwback to old school R&B and funkified fresh beats, Mars performed nearly all of the tracks from his latest album. Upon taking over the stage with “Finesse” and conjuring up a dynamic dosage of “24K Magic” in the air, Mars continued to up the ante with fun, uptempo jams like “Perm,” “Chunky” and “That’s What I Like” before slowing things down a few notches with the smooth grooves “Calling All My Lovelies,” “Straight Up & Down” and the tantalizing “Versace On The Floor.” Also appearing on the setlist were mega hits and fan favorites such as “Treasure,” “Marry You,” “Runaway Baby,” “Just The Way You Are,” and “Locked Out Of Heaven”. Two highlights from this selection were the wistful and stunning ballad “When I Was Your Man” from Unorthodox Jukebox and the dark and fiery rendition of “Grenade” from Doo-Wops & Hooligans.

For country music fans in Chicago, there’s no bigger event than the Country LakeShake Festival on Northerly Island. Headliners at this year’s fest include Thomas Rhett, Miranda Lambert and Rascal Flatts—you’ll also get to sing-along to “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)” when Big & Rich show up on stage. In a city where most festivals tend to ignore country music, there’s no better hootenanny in town.

Though the band looked like a miniature diorama on the Goliath stage, five skyscraper-height screens magnified images of Hetfield, guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo, making them appear larger than life for two full hours. The symbolism carried on with round-the-clock pyrotechnics, full-score fireworks, cinematic visuals and a Tetris stage with multiple ramps and glory platforms that gave meaning again to stadium shows.

The Weeknd ft. Belly, 6lack and Rae Sremmurd • Starboy Legend of the Fall Tour

Abel Tesfaye may be from Toronto, but Chicago is the Weeknd’s town. That was the takeaway from his headlining show Tuesday night at Allstate Arena, where the singer arrived onstage amid the blinding lights of a Starship Enterprise-like contraption hovering above, and the deafening cheers of a packed house hailing its transplanted “Starboy.”

Chris Brown got “The Party” started in Chicago on Friday, April 28th.

Following special guests Fabolous, O.T. Genasis, Lil Durk, and Kap G, Breezy ran through his discography with an electrifying show at Allstate Arena.

The long-awaited concert opened with a jumbotron countdown followed by DJ Khaled’s booming voice. “They don’t want us to win,” he said over the arena sound system. “So we gon’ win more. They don’t want us to party, so Chris Brown’s bringing you ‘The Party Tour.’ When I say ‘Chris,’ you say ‘Brown!’ When I say ‘Team,’ you say ‘Breezy!’ I introduce you to the legendary, iconic, my friend, my brother, Chris Brown.” Breezy knows how to make an entrance. Emerging from the ceiling, floating in the air, flipping backwards, and singing upside down, Brown jumped into a performance of “Wrist.” While suspended in the air, he donned a pinstriped suit jacket and matching shorts, giving off some ACDC vibes with a CB twist.

The already visually spectacular set was even more impressive during the second half of the show. Drake rose up from underneath the stage again and the hundreds of white balloons that had been hanging from the ceiling lit up in pink as the music for “Hotline Bling” began. He performed the song through a heady combination of light fog and the pink light up balloons undulating up and down from the ceiling at random, occasionally pulling out some of his famous dance movies from the song’s music video.

Foo Fighters Wrigley Field Chicago 2015

It was “This is Your Life” Saturday at Wrigley Field for Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl. He presented a mini-history of Chicago rock, brought out his mother and cousin and sat through the whole thing with a broken leg on a throne. When it was all done he was wiping away tears.

Mötley Crüe • The Final Tour • Allstate Arena • Chicago 2015

After 100 million albums, 33 years, five biographies and countless acts of debauchery, the notorious rock group announced in January that it was quitting while the quitting was good, and even signed a “cessation of touring” agreement that prevents it from reuniting as Motley Crue after the end of 2015. The band that was determined to do things its own way — and who took any resistance as a personal rebuke — is finishing its road history on its own terms.
